Concord Police Department, Concord, North Carolina

 On September 7, 2007, Officer Ricardo Rodriguez and K-9 Brex, Concord, North Carolina Police Department assisted the Cabbarus County, North Carolina Sheriff's Department in a residential warrant service for illicit narcotics.  Prior information received from an earlier vehicle traffic stop provided information for the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the City of Concord.  Officer Rodriguez and K-9 Brex responded to the scene and conducted a K-9 Search, which recovered one kilo of cocaine concealed in a laundry detergent box, with an estimated street value of $25,000.00.  Also recovered and seized in the residence was $23,000.00 in U.S. Currency.  Weapons were also confiscated from the residence

 

** Catawba County North Carolina

On 01-31-08 Deputy Dennis Smith with the Catawba County NC Sheriffs Office stopped a black Lincoln Navigator on I 40 near the 137 mile marker for a window tint  violation. The driver a H/M  did not have a license and was taken into custody. While looking for a registration card for the vehicle Deputy Smith Noticed an odor  of Marijuana inside the vehicle. After a quick safety check of the interior  Deputy Smith retrieved his trained Police Dog Max from his vehicle.

While doing an exterior sniff Max alerted to the rear cargo door of the Lincoln. Max was placed inside the vehicle's rear door and immediately alerted to a cardboard box. After removing Max from the Lincoln a hand search was done on the box. Inside were two bundles wrapped in black plastic. Inside the bundles were several "bricks" of Marijuana.  The total weight of the bundles was approx 32 pounds with an estimated street value of $76,000.00  

 

**Tell City, Indiana Police Department

On November 25, 2007, at Approx. 2:11am, Officer Derrick Lawalin stopped a 1998 Lincoln for an equipment violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Derrick Lawalin noticed an excessive amount of air fresheners and a bottle of cologne in the back seat. The driver seemed overly cooperative and very nervous. Officer Derrick Lawalin used K9 Jago for a Free Air Sniff around the exterior of the vehicle. K9 Jago indicated a positive alert on the drivers side head lamp by scratching heavily on two passes. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small plastic container taped to the bottom of the battery in the engine. The container held Approx. three grams of methamphetamine and a pipe. Also located and seized was $8, 745.00 and a small quantity of marijuana

**Catawba County, North Carolina Sheriff's Office

 
On September 13, 2007, Deputy Dennis W. Smith, Catawba County Sheriff's Office, conducted a routine traffic stop for a speeding violation on a Ford Fusion at the US 321 Bypass.  During the traffic stop Deputy Smith conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle with his K-9 Max for the presence of illicit narcotics.  K-9 Max indicated on the vehicle's trunk area as to the presence of illicit narcotics in which the K-9 was trained and certified to detect.  Officers located a large duffle bag in the trunk containing several vacuum packed plastic bags containing hydroponic marijuana.  Fourteen pounds of marijuana, with a street value of $40,000.00 were seized by officers during the traffic stop.  Occupants of the vehicle were then placed under arrest at the scene.
