The American
Police Canine Association extends a personal invitation to attend the 2007 APCA
National Workshop, to be hosted by the Bedford Police Department, Bedford,
Indiana, September 24 – September 27, 2007. This workshop is consistently
recognized as one of the best in the nation, specifically designed for law
enforcement patrol and narcotics detection teams. For those K-9 teams
looking for a selection of diverse and challenging training opportunities,
this workshop offers numerous training venues for both the basic entry and
advanced working K-9 team.
The training
week includes eight (8) to thirteen (13) hour training days in which you choose
the areas you wish to attend. Top experts in their fields offer real world
tactical canine deployment training in addition to several classroom instruction
topics each day.
The American Police Canine
Association will offer national certifications for those member teams wishing to
certify in patrol and or narcotics detection. Accredited APCA Master Trainers
will conduct these certifications. Law enforcement participants attending the
National Workshop will receive thirty (30) hours of I.L.E.T.B. credit.
Training offered will
include all phases of Patrol (Utility), Tracking, Narcotics Detection (to
include buildings, containers, luggage, passenger and commercial land vehicles),
Tactical training (to include K9 Felony vehicle extractions, Night K9 Felony
vehicle stops with simunition weapons, K9/SWAT building entry scenarios, K9
Tactical firearms course with weapons transition shooting. and K9 building
entries incorporating chemical agents / distractive devices (Flash bangs).
Teams planning to
participate in tactical training scenarios are required to bring appropriated
equipment/attire (long sleeve shirts, gas masks with filter, duty belt, eye and
hearing protection, ballistic vest and muzzles. Those teams participating in
the tactical firearms course are required to bring fifty (50) rounds of duty
handgun ammunition. Teams participating in stops training with simunition will
be provided with all required equipment by the hosting agency.
National Workshop registration fees are $200.00 per
team. Please make checks payable to: APCA. Registration
fees include the “Kick Off Cookout”, four lunch buffets, three evening buffets
and the 2007 APCA National Awards Banquet. For those planning to attend, please

The
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, 2800 Express Lane, Bedford, Indiana 47421,
will serve as the lodging and meeting facility for the 2007 National Workshop.
Government rates are $70.00 per night. Reservations may be made by contacting
the Holiday Inn Express at the following contacts: PH: 812-279-1206

Reservations are the responsibility of persons attending
and must confirm their room reservations no later than Saturday, September
15, 2007. It is recommended that reservations be made ASAP, as there are
only sixty-two (62) rooms reserved by the APCA for this event. For those teams staying at the Holiday Inn
Express, a breakfast bar will be provided daily at no additional charge. K9’s
may stay in the hotel rooms, but must be kenneled when left alone in the rooms.
Damages to hotel property will be the responsibility of the offending
department.
The American Police
Canine Association National Awards Banquet will be held on Thursday, September
27, 2007. Those bringing guests to the Awards Banquet should indicate the
number of guests in their party, excluding themselves to allow for meal
preparations. Guests will be charged $12.00 per person for the cost of the
awards banquet meal.
Departments or
individuals desiring to nominate a member candidate for a 2007 APCA Award must
submit letters of nomination, to be postmarked no later than July 30,
2007.
Information as to awards
categories and eligibility requirements can be obtained by contacting the APCA
Awards Committee Chairman. Candidates approved by the APCA Awards Committee,
will be contacted in writing by the President stating the time and place in the
presentation of the award.

Master Trainer or Trainers accreditation before the APCA Accreditation Board

no later than July 30, 2007.
